Seismological evidence of an active footwall shortcut thrust in the Northern Itoigawa-Shizuoka Tectonic Line derived by the aftershock sequence of the 2014 M 6.7 Northern Nagano earthquake
文摘

This earthquake happened on a fault plane with a significantly higher angle than what was previously thought.

We used the permanent seismic network data in order to estimate the detailed distribution of hypocenters.

We combined seismic data, surface geology, and the observed surface deformation to propose a model for the source fault of the 2014 Northern Nagano earthquake.

We checked the validity of our proposed model by calculating surface deformation determined from the source fault geometry.

Our results suggest that the source fault forms an active footwall shortcut thrust.
