Functional and structural analysis of the alanine racemase (Alr) from S. coelicolor. The crystal structure of Alr from S. coelicolor was resolved at around 1.5 Å resolution. Alr is a homodimer with residues from both monomers contributing to the active site. Comparison of Alr proteins does not reveal structural clues for DCS resistance.
