Diagenetic alteration affecting δ18O, δ13C and 87Sr/86Sr signatures of carbonates: A case study on Cretaceous seep deposits from Yarlung-Zangbo Suture Zone, Tibet, China
A new Cretaceous seep deposit was discovered in Tibet, China.
•
Significant diagenetic alteration was recognized based on petrography and isotopes.
•
Linear correlations between δ18O vs. δ13C and δ18O vs. 87Sr/86Sr were observed.
•
δ13C and 87Sr/86Sr signatures can be altered to different degrees during diagenesis.
•
Means to quantitatively assess primary δ13C and 87Sr/86Sr signatures was developed.
