Improvement of aerodynamic characteristics of a thick airfoil with a vortex cell in sub- and transonic flow

The modified SST model using Rodi–Leschziner–Isaev’s approach is verified. Simulation results considering airfoil pressure coefficient are closer to test data. Characteristics of 20% MQ airfoil with vortex cell are improved at M=0.3–0.55. A detailed analysis of buffeting for MQ profile with vortex cell is done at M=0.6. It is found that the vortex cell at М=0.7 is inactive.
