A novel nanomaterial of flower-like porous carbon nanosheet powders (CNPs) is prepared.

The CNPs exhibit almost double theoretical capacity of prototype graphite powders and stable cycling performance.

A ‘path memory effect’ is put forward to explain its good cycle performance in detail.
