First evidence suggest an inhibitory control deficit in idiopathic stuttering.
•
We provide support for this observation by using two stop-signal reaction time tasks.
•
We compared two groups of adults who stutter with matched control groups.
•
Adults who stutter show prolonged stop-signal reaction times in both experiments.
•
Results are relevant for recent theories on basal ganglia involvement in stuttering.
