We measured performance in four tasks before and after two types of balance training.
•
Participants improved their performance only in the balance task they had trained.
•
A priori, a transfer of effects to untrained balance tasks should not be expected.
•
For best results, balance training programs should be as specific as possible.
•
The use of generic balance tests for balance assessment seems questionable.
