Carbon aerogels were prepared from pyrolysis of CMC aerogels. The carbon aerogels were activated by using KOH. The activated carbon aerogel had a high specific capacitance of 152.6 F/g. The carbon aerogel exhibited excellent adsorption capacities for dye solutions.
