An unusual mono-substituted Keggin anion-chain based 3D framework with 24-membered macrocycles as linker units

A new compound, [CuI(H2O)(Hbpp)2]?{[CuI(bpp)]2[PW11CuIIO39]} (1) (bpp=1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane), has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. In compound 1, the unusual -A-B-A-B- array mono-substituted Keggin anion-chains and 24-membered (Cubpp)2 cation-macrocycles are linked together to form a (2, 4) connected 3D framework with channels of ca. 9.784¡Á7.771 ?2 along two directions, in which the [Cu(H2O)(Hbpp)2] coordination fragments as guest components are trapped. The photocatalytic experiments of compound 1 were performed, which show a good catalytic activity of compound 1 for photodegradation of RhB. Furthermore, the IR, TGA and electrochemical properties of compound 1 were investigated.
