A novel hybrid membrane-based electricity generation system is presented. This system consists of membrane distillation and reverse electrodialysis. There exists an optimal relative flow rate leading to the maximum electrical efficiency. The electrical efficiency reaches 1.15% operating between 20 and 60 °C with 5 mol/kg NaCl.
