Oil palm EFB is a promising materials for paperboard and MDF products. The highest strength of EFB pulp is obtained by NaOH pretreatment and refining at 165 °C. The tensile index of SB benefits from chemical-free pretreatment. Half-dried thermomechanical pulps have sightly better strength than wet pulps. MDF made from dried EFB refined fibers by dry processing exhibits suitable properties for actual use.
