Extremely stable bare hematite photoanode for solar water splitting

Optimization of bare hematite photoanodes using a design of experiments approach.

Hematite ultrathin films of ca. 18.8 nm are deposited by spray pyrolysis.

Optimized photoanode reaches a photocurrent of ca. 0.94 mA cm−2 at 1.45 VRHE.

Record-breaking stability over 1000 h under 1-sun AM 1.5 G illumination.
