Both, Latrunculin B and Cytochalasin D reorganize F-actin into globular structures. Only Cytochalasin D leads to a strong induction of CTGF. Cytochalasin D modifies MKL1 and increases its nuclear localization YAP/TAZ are essential for CTGF synthesis, but not affected by Cytochalasin D. Cytochalasin D promotes TGFβ-1-mediated phosphorylation of Smad2/3.
