A method has been developed for the identification and quantification of 14 protein biomarker candidates for osteoarthritis. The MRM method has been applied for the detection of the panel in human chondrocytes, cartilage, synovial fluid and serum. A screening on 116 serum samples was carried out, leading to the identification of increased HPT and VWF in the patients. The increased amount of VWF was verified using an affinity-based approach.
