An online ranking of converters to choose the proper DC slack bus in an HVDC grid. Examine short circuit capacity and power margin of the converter for ranking. Smartly utilize a naturally occurring disturbance in HVDC grids to estimate SCC. Proper selection of DC slack improves AC and DC response during disturbances.
