Survival of the patients with high body mass index (BMI) 1 year after surgery was significantly higher than that of the patients with normal or low BMI.

High BMI 1 year after surgery was significantly associated with good prognosis of the gastric cancer patients undergoing gastrectomy along with age, tumour stage, and curative resection.

Nutritional support can be considered in the patients with surgical gastrectomy to improve their outcomes.
