文摘
Ion nitriding of pure iron was realized using a plasma beam with high density of N2+ generated by a novel tubular source; After nitriding at 450 °C for 120 min, ~ 5-μm compound layers formed with diffusion zone in millimeter scale. Nitriding of pure iron was realized at 250 °C, producing a compound layer with a thickness of ~ 2.5 μm. N2+ and N+ are suggested to be responsible for the nitriding of pure iron by the high-density plasma beam.
