doa4Δ did3Δ double mutant cells efficiently degrading a short-lived reporter protein Deg1-βgal were mutagenized. Four colonies that lost the ability to degrade Deg1-βgal were isolated. Inactivation of the VID27 (vacuolar import and degradation) gene restores the doa4 phenotype in doa4Δ did3Δ double mutant.
