Flexible ureterorenoscopes are delicate tools which must be used with care and attention. The extreme fragility of flexible ureterorenoscopes has always been underlined to explain why the development of the technique has been slow, especially in countries where the ureterorenoscopy is not well-known and thus not reimbursed, or only partially. This notion of extreme fragility was reported in 2000 by Clayman et al. but concerned last generation flexible URSs, i.e. flexible URSs which now are no longer on the market. Clinical evaluations of flexible URSs of the ¡°new generation?are totally different and nowadays it is estimated that a new generation URS can be used to carry out an average of fifty interventions.
