A simple, reliable, and inexpensive method for the detection of ortho-diphenols in extra-virgin olive oil is proposed. A pencil drawing approach was used to construct electrochemical detectors. A dual electrode electrochemical detector enables selective detection of ortho-diphenols to be achieved. Extra-virgin olive oils can be easily distinguished from other vegetable oils.
