Chronic, delayed, and resilient posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) trajectories were identified. Pain modulation indices and chronic pain intensity showed a gradient according to PTSD trajectory. PTSD trajectories mediated the relationship between torture and conditioned pain modulation. The duration and severity of PTSD seem crucial in the association between trauma and chronic pain.
