•: A new rhodamine 6 G based chemosensor (RG-HN) was synthesized and its chemical structure was confirmed by ¹HNMR, ¹³CNMR and ESI-mass.
•: RG-HN showed good selectivity towards Al³⁺.

•: RG-HN thin film recognizes Al³⁺ in 100% of aqueous media.
