Bioactive and antibacterial CaO–SiO2–Ag2O glass materials were successfully decorated onto and into PAA nano-pores by a simple and economic sol-dipping technique.

Good bone-like apatite formation ability and high anti-bacterial properties of CaO–SiO2–Ag2O/PAA were obtained.

Combination of the nano-porous structure of PAA and bioactive and antibacterial CaO–SiO2–Ag2O glass materials is a good way to produce novel coatings with multifunctional characteristics.
