A novel structural dynamics approach is developed based on polynomial matrix theory. The approach can account for linear MDOF systems with singular matrices. An alternative approach to the proposed methodology by Udwadia et al. The use of pseudoinverses is circumvented in determining the system response. Closed form expressions are derived for the response displacements
