The first fluorescent probe having [2.2]paracyclophanyl group have been synthesized. The probe 4a exhibits a highly selective and sensitive response to Hg2+. The probe 4a has good biocompatibility in A549 cells. The probe 4a can be applied to detect intracellular Hg2+ in A549 cells. The crystal structure and spectral properties of 4b are investigated.
