Polycrystalline 0–2 wt% Rh-doped SnO2 nanoparticles were produced by flame spray pyrolysis. Structural characterizations indicated that Rh atoms were substitutional dopants with Rh3+ oxidation state. H2-sensing performances were greatly improved at a low optimal Rh-doping content of 0.2 wt%. The optimal sensor displayed an ultra-high response of 22,170 with a short response time of 6 s to 30,000 ppm of H2 at 300 °C. Rh-doped SnO2 sensors exhibited high H2 selectivity against NO2, SO2, C2H4, C3H6O, CH4, H2S and CO.
