The manuscript first revealed the functional differentiation of IRF4 paralogues in teleost. The common viruses (GCRV and SVCV) can induce the transcript level of IRF4 paralogues in teleost. The expression pattern of IRF4a and IRF4b was quite different in the later stage of virus infection.
