Hepatic SREBP-2 over-activation and impaired autophagy in NAFLD patients Altering S1P and S2P bioactivity induces autophagy via inhibiting SREBP-2 cleavage. Altering S1P and S2P bioactivity improves macrolipophagy in a cell model of NAFLD. shRNAs targeting S1P or S2P promote autophagy related gene expression in vitro. Knockdown of S1P and S2P improves macrolipophagy in HFD-fed mice.
