Membrane fouling can be monitored in real-time with normal Raman spectroscopy. The setup produces spectral data that can be analyzed using multivariate methods. The results described foulant's accumulation well and in semi-quantitative way. The degree of vanillin adsorption into PESH membrane is concentration dependent. The Raman spectra are not significantly interfered by vibrations in filtration cell.
