Pseudocorynosoma tepehuanesi n. sp., is described from intestine of Oxyura jamaicensis from northern Mexico. Phylogenetic analyses from LSU and cox 1 gene support the erection of the new species. Morphologically the new species has a proboscis with 15 longitudinal rows with 7–8 hooks each. The tree inferred with cox 1 placed all the pseudogenes in single clade. The pseudogenes arose after speciation process within genus Pseudocorynosoma.
