Four previously unrecorded pantelleritic tuffs have been located in Embu, Kenya.

The tuffs yielded 40Ar/39Ar ages ranging from 6.36 to 8.13 Ma.

The tuffs' occurrence indicates multi-cyclic supereruptions in the Late Miocene.

The timing coincides with a shift towards drier savannah-dominated environments.
