Exhaust gas condensate - formation, characterization and influence on platinum measuring electrodes in diesel vehicles

文摘
A modification and driving profile of an exhaust gas system at the engine test bench to induce and observe the formation of exhaust gas condensate is proposed. The driving profile relies on a repeated cold start section followed by a partial load section. Exhaust gas condensates received from passenger cars were collected and analyzed for their full composition. Effects of two representative condensates on platinum measurement electrodes in different operating modes are presented. Electrophoretic processes on the surface of the electrodes lead to various poisoning effects depending on the selected operating mode.
