A new method is shown for highly selective separation of seawater divalent ions. The 3-step approach comprises of two NF steps followed by six DiaNF cycles. TH:SO42− ratio in DiaNF influent governs Cl− concentration in product solution. Product solution characterized by [Mg2+] ∼5000 mg/l, with much lower [Cl−] & [Na+]
