The Burger equation describes lots of nonlinear physical phenomena in geophysical fluid dynamics and lattice dynamics. Lie symmetry analysis, conservation laws and Painlevé analysis are all considered for the equation. Some new analytic solutions including solitary and periodic waves are presented via algebraic and differential manipulation.
