A process model for silage volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions was developed. The model predicted ethanol emissions measured from silage sources on a dairy farm. The model is added to Integrated Farm System Model (IFSM), a whole-farm simulation. IFSM simulations showed silage in feed lanes as the major source of VOC emissions. Mitigation efforts should focus on reducing silage VOC emissions during feeding.
