Several alkylbenzenes inhibit PTZ-induced seizures and death. Hexane and cyclohexane have no effect on PTZ-induced seizures and death. Aromatic solvents decrease NMDA-induced mortality; hexane and cyclohexane do not. Anticonvulsant effects were observed only in solvents with an aromatic ring.
