Overexpression of Sox9 immunoreactivity in mature sebocytes of acne lesion. Sox9 can facilitate sebocyte proliferation, differentiation and lipogenesis. Sox9 knockdown leads to blockade of G1 phase progression in sebocytes. Sox9 knockdown results in expression of sub-G1 population in sebocytes.
