Pollution indices were used to evaluate metal contamination in the sediments of Veraval Harbor. Zn, Cd, Pb, and Cr showed higher accumulation in the sediment. Ecological risk assessment showed that Cr, Ni, Pb, and Zn have higher potential toxicity. Cr, Ni, Pb, and Zn levels in the aquatic environment triggered an alert to develop the protocol for future monitoring.
