The effect of anionic headgroup on the performance of anionic-nonionic surfactants was compared.

The AE3C has the best surface activity, spreading ability and thermal stability.

The interfacial tension at different concentrations of CaCl2 is in the sequence of AE3C > AE3S > AE3SO.
