Magnetic susceptibility anisotropy as a predictive exploration tool of metasomatic iron oxide deposits: Example from the Panj-Kuh iron ore body, NE Iran
The occurrence of different types of magnetite at Panj-Kuh pluton is documented.
•
The study investigates the effects of hydrothermal alteration on magnetic properties of magnetite by using AMS method.
•
Magnetic fabrics modify preferred orientations of principal axes of the AMS during hydrothermal alteration.
•
AMS can be used as a predictive exploration tool for metasomatic iron oxide deposits.
