The prevalence of Theileria equi infection was studied in 1000 apparently healthy horses in western Mexico. This is the first study of T. equi infection prevalence among horses in western Mexico by nPCR. The prevalence of positive samples was 19.70%. The hemoprotozoan parasite T. equi is present at sub-clinical levels in horses from western Mexico.
