pS6 was detected in almost all DNs in epileptic tissues from FCDII and RE. mTOR upstream activation in FCDII was detected in a subset of DNs but not in RE. IL-1β expression was observed in pS6+ DNs not presenting mTOR upstream activation. DNs in FCDII might result from two events: PI3K-Akt-activation or inflammation.
