A blade optimisation process which includes individual pitch and trailing edge flaps is proposed. Individual pitch and trailing edge flap controller gains are updated before time-domain simulations. This ensures controller gains are matched to blade properties during simulations. Slightly higher cost of energy reductions are obtained with advanced load control. Blade designs are driven by deflection, rotor thrust and ultimate stress constraints.
