The paper explores forest transition pathways in the Asia Pacific region. Forest recovery happens at different income levels in different countries. Asian countries tend to achieve forest transition at low income levels. Governance, i.e. protection laws, forest planning and afforestation account for this. Forest transition in Asia-Pacific countries is dissimilar from Europe or the Americas.
