First measurements of ambient aerosol over an ecologically sensitive zone in Central India: Relationships between PM2.5 mass, its optical properties, and meteorology
We report PM2.5 mass and its optical properties over a National Park in Bhopal, India.
•
Median Angström exponent was 0.65 suggesting significant dust contribution to PM2.5.
•
PM2.5 mass and βSCAT at 550 nm correlated well only during the post-monsoon season.
•
PM2.5 mass and multiwavelength βABS/βATN were not well correlated all year round.
•
At the study site, using βSCAT, βABS or βATN to quantify PM2.5 mass was unsuitable.
