Sulfur adislands on Cu(110) undergo both Ostwald andSmoluchowski ripening. On a sulfur sub-saturated surface, the islands decay following a classical power law. On a sulfur saturated surface, no islands decay is observed. O/Cu(110) nanostructure used as a template for creating alternating S adislands.
