Inferior Q waves in apparently healthy subjects: Should we take a deep breath? An electrocardiographic, echocardiographic and cardiac magnetic resonance study
Abnormal inferior Q waves may be the remnants of a previously unsuspected myocardial infarction.
•
We evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of electrocardiogram during inspiration and echocardiography.
•
Magnetic resonance is the gold standard method to detect myocardial infarction.
•
Inferior Q waves persistence is a strong marker of silent myocardial infarction.
•
Echocardiography segmental wall motion analysis has lower sensitivity and specificity.
