We report on developments using a coherent quantum cascade laser array.

This laser source emits around 8.3 μm on two lobes in the far field.

A grating is aligned with one lobe to realize an external-cavity system.

This Littrow configuration permit to obtain a tunability up to 40 cm^−1.

The developed source is used to demonstrate the detection of acetone.
