The quest for rural child welfare workers: How different are they from their urban counterparts in demographics, organizational climate, and work attitudes?

This study examined how organizational climate influences child welfare workers’ work attitudes based on regional differences. Rural workers reported lower levels of job stress, higher growth and advancement, role clarity, and organizational commitment. Personal accomplishment was the strongest variable significantly contributing to job satisfaction regardless of the location of the agency. Rural workers highly value cooperation and collaboration, clear expectations and adequate resources, and professional growth and promotion.
