The AVP system might play a role in insulin resistance and diabetes mellitus. Diabetic patients with DR and VTDR had significantly higher copeptin plasma levels. Copeptin ≥28.6 pmol/L (3rd quartiles) was an independent marker of DR and VTDR. The data suggested a possible role of copeptin in pathogenesis of DR complications.
